I love it when you’re desperate…

“…I love it when you can’t compete”Desperate – Birds Of Tokyo

So it’s now less than three weeks till I jet off to the other side of the planet. For those who I haven’t already gushed to, I’m being sent to Milan (that’s in Italy for the geographically challenged amongst all one of you reading this), to attend the biennial Saloni design exhibition. It’ll be my first trip OS, so I’m now starting to get quite excited and nervous. The night before is going to be sooo much sleeping. Not.

Then (at this stage – not confirmed yet), the following week, I’ll be re-packing my suitcase to head over to Shanghai for a week looking for suppliers. Talk about culture shock.

Work is going really well. Obviously I’m not gonna tell all, but it’s going well.

Photography is also going rather well. As mentioned in my last post, I bought a new Sigma 10-20mm lens. Which is proving extremely cool. In particular if I look through it while I’m walking along. It’s like being wasted without the hassle of getting wasted.

And that’s a wrap

…Of the weekend at least.

So far, Adelaide is into its thirteenth (or something) day of over 35°C temperatures. Mother Nature and I have a love/hate relationship. I love to hate her. Our air conditioner has been getting a hammering this last fortnight. The geniuses (genii?) at the Bureau of Meteorology have said that it should end on Tuesday. It better, otherwise I’m gonna hunt them down and stuff their pocket protectors square up their bottoms.

Four weeks and one day till I make my first overseas trip. I’m off to Milan for a week thanks to my employer. There’s a big design/furniture/something exhibition in the trendy city every two years, so we’re flying in to steal get inspired by others’ designs. I’ve booked train tickets to Florence for the Sunday I’m over there, as I have a friend who lives there are is going to show me around. Can’t wait for that – I really want to get in to see Michelangelo’s David but I’m not sure if we’ll be able to. We’ll see.

Then, five days after I get back, I’m off to Shanghai for five days of supplier hunting. My passport’s gonna love me…

I booked my tickets to see Cog play @ The Gov in June – cannot wait, as they’ll be touring on the back of their new album, which launches April 12th. Three days before I jet off. I’ve ordered a signed copy off JB Hi-Fi which is due to be shipped on the 11th. I’m hoping beyond hope that it’ll turn up in time. Alternatively, since I’m that desperate to hear it, I could always buy it off iTunes if it doesn’t turn up in time… We’ll see. At least I can get internet at the airport. ;-)

I also bought myself a new lens for my camera yesterday. I picked up a Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX HSM lens for wide angle shots. Something I’ve been lusting after for a while now. And I wanted to take it overseas with me, so I grabbed it and have been dabbling with it, when it hasn’t been to hot to go anywhere. Here’s one them from earlier tonight:
